Teaching in Motion

We keep teachers in the classroom by getting them out in the field!

A community-based approach to
supporting and inspiring teachers

At Teaching in Motion, we're on a mission to reduce teacher burnout.

Located in the breathtaking mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, our nonprofit is working to create supportive networks of educators through nature-based field trips!

We help teachers connect to their roots-- the creativity and the passion that grounded them in the field in the first place.  We help them find the joy in learning again, which is inevitably translated into the joy of teaching.

Every teacher with whom we collaborate receives high-quality instruction in science, curriculum creation, and social-emotional learning-- but delivered discreetly amidst the call of birds or rustle of leaves.

Each teacher we keep in the classroom serves an average of 24 students a year.  Each of those 24 students gets a teacher who is happier, more creative, and better qualified to deliver lessons that are innovative, inspirational and, potentially, even life-changing.

Engaging field experiences, coupled with expert curriculum design support, result in motivated teachers delivering content-rich, place-based lessons that transport their students to locations they might not otherwise experience.

At Teaching in Motion, we strive to reduce teacher burnout by taking teachers on exciting field trips, building community, and co-creating lessons that inspire and inform future environmental stewards.
